Granola Bars

OK, several people have asked for the recipe for the granola bars that I have been making at home, so here it is! Thanks Kim for giving me the recipe!

Mix the following dry ingredients in a bowl:
2 cups quick oats
1 cup flour
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup raisin or substitute (M&Ms, choc. chips, etc.)
1/2 cup wheat germ
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup walnut (optional)

Mix wet ingredients in a separate bowl:
1/2 cup veg. oil (opt. 1/4 cup applesauce and 1/4 cup oil)
1/2 cup honey
1 egg
2 tsp vanilla

Combine all ingredients.
Spray 9X13 pan and spread in bottom. Bake at 350 for 25-30 min

Bitter Sweet

Josh and his dad Ron flew to Washington to see Grandma Taylor on Sunday. She has not been doing well and asked to see Ron. Josh was thrilled to get to go but a little sad to see her struggling. Josh got back late Tuesday night and Ron came home yesterday. Here are pictures of Josh, Grandma, and Ron. It was an accident Mom!!!

Nate came into the house with blood streaming out of his mouth saying, "It was an accident Mom!" Cliff was trailing along behind him crying. Apparently Nate "accidentally" got his face down by where Cliff's foot was kicking. It split his lip open on the inside. Cliff was upset because he thought that he would be in trouble. It took a couple of days but the swelling is gone now.

Congratulations to my friends from work, Carlos and Sharla on the birth of their baby girl Shyne (sounds like shine). She is a cutey! I can't wait to see her in person!

God's got it!

Josh and I have been praying about our finances and our housing situation. (I probably have been doing more worrying than praying.) This morning I decided that I can do my Life Journal while I am taking my morning break at work. The verse that popped out was the one above. Before I could finish writing down my observations my phone rang and it was the realtor for our house in Palisade. We have an offer again. I realize that something could happen and that it could fall through, but it was a tangible way for God to show me that he loves us and he will take care of us. In other words "God's got it." I don't need to try to handle it too.

Working Sunday Afternoon

While the rest of the family went to the lake, Josh and my parents came to Grant to do some work in the yard. We had not moved the kids' play house out from Grant yet, so they went and picked that up and had it all set up when we got home. Our trampoline had cartwheeled into the field behind our house with the wind a month ago and they got that straightened out and staked down as well. On this fine holiday, I should not hear, "Mom, there is nothing to do." From the big boys. We also burned the branches that were in the incinerator when we moved here. Some mice came scurrying out and Nate killed at least one. YEA!!! Dad and Josh killed a huge bull snake beside the dog pen also. I know it would kill the mice, but I would rather not have Nate out trying to kill it on his own and get hurt. The dogs were pretty wound up about it. Whew! What a day!
